Arthur (2005-2009)

Myspace // "Wonder Weapon" [Audio]

Promising Fleet-based band Arthur called it quits on 22 July, an important piece of news I missed until today, thanks to being on the road for ten days. This was a real letdown as these guys were really coming into their own with their latest batch of songs. Here's the posting from their Myspace page:

Dear friends and fans....

We write this regretfully to inform you that we have decided to call it a day,due to personal reasons within the band.

We would like to thank everybody so so much for all your support over the last 4 years, and for making it worthwhile.

We have had great times which will not be forgotten, and we hope you will never forget us.

I am sure in the future that we will all be involved in music in some way or another.

Anyway...here are two new songs we recorded a month or so ago.
Enjoy.

Love to all,
Arthur

Hannah Shark "The Buffalo Lullaby"

Myspace // "This Will Kill Us" [Audio]

Despite double duty with a band (Arthur) and a solo project, Fleet-based Hannah Shark continues to fly under the radar with brilliant acoustic pop gems, four of which can be found on the self-released EP she is selling on her Myspace page. The new tunes continue to reach the web from both of her projects, including this track which is rounded out with a homemade video, obviously influenced by the terrible Vincent Gallo film Buffalo 66.

Hannah plays the acoustic stage at Guilfest '09 on Friday in Guilford, England.

Arthur

Myspace // "Comatose" [Audio]

I discovered Fleet-based band Arthur in a roundabout way. While nosing around on Elle Milano's message board, I saw that Adam Crisp's new project, Entrepreneurs, had remixed a track from Hannah Shark who also plays in Arthur. The five-piece is about to drop their debut EP, Cinderella Story, which firmly places the band in a quickly-growing crowd of quirky/dark pop bands coming from the south of England. While tunes like "Comatose" may be raw, they signal this band isn't just screwing around -- they have ideas that show excellent potential.
