SXSW 2k8 Preview: Johnny Flynn

I've been championing Johnny Flynn for the past fourteen months, calling him a special talent with gorgeous early demos brimming full of lush instrumentation and diverse influences. I've been so impressed with his musical development that I even named him a band to watch for 2008. Apparently, other people are starting to take notice of the young troubadour from London as, in recent months, he signed and recorded a full length for Mercury Records and started building some buzz on both sides of the pond. It's incredibly well deserved, as Johnny Flynn is easily the most exciting neo-folk artist in the world right now with some of the most memorable and moving songs of recent memory. Make sure to hit some of his many shows at SXSW, because I have the feeling they will be among the most talked about performances of the year.
