The Innits + Shows in Boston This Week

The Innits

Berlin is one of my favorite cities in Europe. After the fall of the wall, a ton of investment capital flowed into the eastern side of the city and all of these really cool skyscrapers were built. The contrast of old world buildings next to cutting edge modernist architecture is really cool. Another really cool thing from Berlin is a band called The Innits. Their bio describes them as The Smiths as played by The Velvet Underground, but frankly I don't hear it. To me, they sound like happy go lucky college rock from the late 80s and early 90s--a sound reminiscent of R.E.M., Buffalo Tom and They Might Be Giants. Either way, The Innits have some great songs that are saccharine sweet and totally catchy, so make sure to check them out.
