The Motorettes/Apartment and Shows in Boston This Week

The Motorettes
Apartment

It's officially summer here in Boston and it's obnoxiously beautiful outside. The sun is shining, there's not a cloud in the sky, and pretty much everyone across the city is stuck inside working the 9 to 5. It succkkkks. I do have a bit of a bright spot for your day--I came across a weird promotional website for the Audi TT (that's a car) that features some pretty awesome bands covering some pretty awesome songs. The Motorettes took on "Kids in America," which I admit I first heard while watching Clueless back when I was a pre-teen. It's an upbeat power punk cover that reminds me of Dirt Bike Annie--if only they were British. Apartment tackles the Patsy Cline classic "Crazy," providing an updated take that is totally devoid of the schmaltz of the original. It's haunting in its unemotionality and yes, it totally rocks. Hit up the website for some more, including covers of New Order's "Blue Monday" and Elvis' "That's Alright".
