If I had to describe Tacks, The Boy Disaster in one word, I'd probably say "whimsical" as the four piece plays a dreamy brand of indie pop that's lush, playful and imaginative. The songs on their Oh, Beatrice EP feel like lullabies played at a cabaret in the fact that they're subtly saccharine yet smoky and ruminative at the same time. With rich layers of piano and baritone vocals layered over
bright percussion and guitars, the band creates a poppy yet atmospheric sound that's similar in many respects to Midlake, Rufus Wainwright and even Le Loup. Make sure to catch Tacks, The Boy Disaster at SXSW or buy their stellar EP at the iTunes Store.
