If you read Gorilla vs. Bear, it would be easy to assume that Texas is the center of the musical universe and that's that. While there is quite the musical renaissance going on in Texas, one of the best groups to arrive from this mess is Austin's Sound Team. Last year's EP showed a ton of promise, but the June-released Movie Monster is everything you'd want to hear from a modern rock band, as it merges a DIY mindset with the past and present of computer technology. [630pm; $12]

MSTRKRFT rolls into town this Thursday to DJ
Paper, Boston's weekly dance party/get laid-fest for BU/Northeastern students. The best part of the night will not be dodging the college students getting shitty off of Smirnoff Ice, but waiting to hear what the duo will work into their set and how they seem to have more energy two hours in than when they first hit the decks. Maybe it's the pepperoni pizza? Stick around after the packed green line trains leave to find out. [18+; $10; 9 pm]
